FAQs

Common Questions

What is included with individual cremation?

Individual cremation is provided by West Coast Pet Memorial. Your pet’s ashes are returned to you, and a clay paw print keepsake is included. A rosewood urn is included as the standard option, with a small selection of other urns available at no additional cost.

What happens with my pet’s ashes if I choose communal cremation?

With communal cremation, ashes are not returned to your family. Oceans of Love cares for the ashes and scatters them at sea. Scattering locations vary, and exact coordinates are not recorded, so there is not a specific location that can be provided afterward.

What if I need to cancel or decide I’m not ready?

We understand that circumstances can change quickly. If you need to cancel, we appreciate 12–24 hours’ notice whenever possible so we can make that time available to another family. Appointments cancelled with less than 2 hours’ notice are non-refundable. If we arrive and you decide not to move forward with euthanasia, that is completely okay. Your appointment will be adjusted to a $375 in-home visit fee to cover the veterinarian’s travel, preparation, time, and quality-of-life discussion, and any remaining amount you paid will be refunded.

What if my pet passes away before the appointment?

This does happen. If your pet passes before we arrive, please cancel the appointment through the link in your confirmation email. If you’re unable to do that, contact us as soon as possible so we know not to come to your home. If you selected cremation and still need help with aftercare, please reach out and we can help you determine next steps.

Can my family or other pets be present?

Absolutely. Your family can be together in whatever way feels most comfortable, and other pets are welcome to be present too. Some families want everyone nearby throughout the visit; others prefer children or companion pets to come in afterward. There is no right way to do it, and we’re happy to follow your lead.

How long does an appointment take?

Most visits take about 45 minutes, but we don’t rush the process. We’ll explain each step, give your pet time to become fully relaxed after sedation, and leave space for you to spend time together before and after their passing.
